What should christmas song should I play for my christmas piano recital?

Q. This year my piano teacher is letting me choose my own piece. I want to play a festive/Christmas song but I want it to be more modern like Santa Baby, Jingle Bell Rock or Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. The only problem is that most Christmas songs are too easy to play and Santa Baby might be a little too risque. I have been playing piano for almost five years and I want to choose a challenging yet fun piece. Any suggestions?

A. jingle bell rock rox!(: what about deck the halls? hmmm... Well you actually seemed really interested in this Santa Baby it may be a little risky but if your a truly talented pianist with your amount of expierince i think you could most deffinately blow them away!(:

What does christmas mean and where did the christmas tree and lights come from?
Q. Where did the tradition of the Christmas tree and celebrating christmas come from. Did the cave men celebrate christmas too?

A. Christmas is from Anglo-Saxons "Christ-messe" and means the celebration of Christ. In most other languages the name of Christmas comes from the word for "birth" - Natividad, Noel, Nativity.

The arrival of Christ in the world has been celebrated from the early days of the Christian church. At this time, there were no universal standards so some people celebrated the birth, some celebrated the arrival of the Magi (aka three kings), Epiphany. They also celebrated on different days as the bible does not give any date.

The Church in Rome settled on December 25th some time in the late 3rd century. There was no traditional Roman feast on that day, though the Emperor did start a new one at about that time. No-one knows which came first. This date became the standard in the Western Catholic church and is kept by most protestants. Most Orthodox use the same date, but a different calendar, a few still use a different date.

The tradition of the Christmas Tree started in Europe and is first recorded in the 16th century, well into the Christian era. There is no evidence at all of any connection to paganism.

The first Christmas trees were put up on Christmas Eve and were decorated with fruit and nuts (now replaced by glass baubles and candy). Christmas Eve used to be counted as the Feast of Adam and Eve. The connection is obvious - the Christmas tree represents the tree in the Garden of Eden.

The birth of Christ, the second Adam, transforms the tree from a symbol of our fall to a symbol of our redemption

How many christmas presents should i get my parents?
Q. How many christmas presents do you normally get your parents? I have got them both 2 each and was thinking of getting them both 1 more so just though i'd ask how many you guys get your parents?

A. I usually just get my parents either one nice gift (which doesn't have to mean expensive) and a few small things like tiny chocolates and stocking stuffers. Or a few gifts that they have mentioned that regular type things such as a sweater or a book. Now when I say one nice gift I mean one year I bought my mom a painted horse which I had to order in special and cost quite a lot. Then another year I made a scrapbook, which only cost me about twenty dollars for the book but lots of time and love for the pictures and the way the book was put together. It's the thought that counts not the amount. Just put your heart into what you give them. If they love you it won't matter what you get them. If you are thoughtful, observant and considerate they will love what you get for them.

I have always been annoyed by people who give gifts for others based on what they like and not based on what the others would like. It shows an incredible level of self involvement. If i give a gift to someone I want them to love it and to enjoy using it every-time. If you give a gift to someone and it's something you like and not something they like then hopefully they will be polite and say they love it but in the end that item will end up garbage or re gifted and that's an incredible waste. My point is that if you know your parents really well then you don't need to get a bunch of things. One or two from the heart gifts should do. Plus the season is more about being with the ones you love then getting gifts. I love the games and sitting down to talk with family you haven't seen all year. My least favorite part is opening gifts because afterwards christmas is over. Also I don't think 2 gifts or even three are any where near materialistic. Unless one is a porche and they already have one lol.

Whatever happens I wish you a happy holiday!

How is Canadian christmas dinner different from other christmas dinners around the world?
Q. What are the different main foods?
What, if any are the different traditions at christmas dinner around the world?
I'd really appreciate the details and any links to helpful websites if you have any.
If you can say what other places in the world eat for christmas dinners and their traditions because i know the canadian christmas stuff but i need to know the comparison with other countries that would be great.

A. Hi ! :)

Here in Trinidad and Tobago, usually, we don't have a formal "dinner". We have Ham, Turkey, Pastelles, and basically any other food like Christmas Rice (Fried rice with raisins in it) and Chicken, usually baked. However, the interesting thing about our Christmas dinner is that we have a very informal dinner, usually a "Parang Band" - a group of people, similar to carolers, except they sing nacemientos(songs about christ in spanish) in a style that americans would experience during cinco de mayo... you may youtube it if you'd like. These bands are rather informal, and are usually a group of people just having fun. Historically, this was a widely accepted thing, however, as of recent, people aren't that fond of strangers coming into their homes (Youtube Marcia Miranda's Theifing Parang Band)

Hope I helped ^.^ Oh and Trinidad and Tobago is the southern most Caribbean Islands in the caribbean island chain. We are NOT jamaica or any part of jamaica -.-' lol sorry just usually people see caribbean and instantly think "Jamaica" and "Reggae" >.<

Hope I helped ^.^

What are good christmas present ideas for my boyfriend?
Q. My boyfriend is 15 (i'm 14.) we've been together for a while. He has a great sense of humor. He loves acting like a kid. He likes remote controlled cars and air planes. He does 5 different kinds of mixed martial arts. He is OBSESSED with Taylor Swift. Any ideas?

A. If he dooesn't already have it, Call of Duty 4. Most of the guys my age ar freakin obsessed with that game. Although, considering what he likes, maybe a remote-controlled car or airplane would be good. Or, since he has a sense of humor, maybe get him a prank kit! Maybe a Taylor Swift poster or CD? Anyway, good luck!
